they are too cartoony in my opinion, and it drives me crazy how inconsistent the artstyle is (e.g. EUR5.00 definitely feels like an appropriate price for its basegame lol.Ī lot of people prefer Sims 4 graphics, but I really do not like them. I am glad I mostly bought the Sims 4 on sale. Seriously, an older game which had a shorter lifespan manages to outdo the newer game which keeps getting new content for longer with no end in sight. I do not know what it is exactly that makes me leave before even playing, but it is so boring super fast. Recently, I have seen myself load up the game, going into create-a-sim and leaving before having even created a sim. Whenever I want to play the Sims 4, I do not last for long. Whenever I had a short phase of wanting to play another Sims game and switch back to Sims 3, I notice just how much the open world, create-a-style, the colour wheels for hair and skintones and rabbitholes are something I miss, and just how much there is to do in the game, how the world feels more alive and how much more awesome it is in most ways. For the Sims 3, I only have a couple of mods, mostly NRAAS mods to fix broken mechanics, improve performance and the like, yet I feel like the game has so much more content, depth and is all around just superior in almost every way.

There are some smaller things that Sims 4 does better, but I cannot enjoy the game without several mods that affect the actual gameplay and even so, I get bored relatively quickly.

I have never played just basegame in neither of the two games, but Sims 3 with only some of its packs feels so much better and complete than Sims 4 with most of the packs. The Sims 4 on the other hand, I dunno, they’re just way too chaotic sometimes, and I don’t know if it’s just their traits or their emotions or their environment, or whatever, but it all comes across as very buggy and very erratic, it’s funny at times, but mostly it’s just very annoying and immersion breaking watching my bro sim do push ups at the worst most inappropriate times. Like my bookworm/virtuoso character will always be reading a book, or playing the piano, or my clumsy/shy character will always be tripping over their feet, and failing social interactions, it was simple and worked well, and didn’t have things like an emotions system to intervene with whatever I curated, but was still spontaneous enough to surprise me from time to time. I base my sims off of characters in my head, and in The Sims 3 I always felt the personality options, and how they play out were always pretty on par with the characters they were based off of.
